Knowing Jesus

What to Expect

Our Sunday service is designed to provide a place where people can have a life changing experience with God in worship and to present basic biblical truths and how they apply to our everyday lives. We pray that you will feel the love of God in an incredible way when you visit with us.

Worship – God made our emotions and He created us to worship Him for who He is and what He has done.

Why do we clap our hands?

It is a natural reaction of celebration and honor.

“O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”  Psalms 47:1

Why do we lift our hands?

As a sign of victory and surrender to God.

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.”

 Psalms 134:2, Psalms 63:4, 1 Timothy 2:8

Why do we praise Him in the dance?

We express the joy we have for God when we dance

“Praise Him with the timbrel and dance…” Psalms 150:4

“On that day be glad and dance for joy…” Luke 6:23

“Let them praise his name in the dance…” Psalms 149:3

Why do we pray for the sick by laying on of hands and anointing with oil?

There’s great power in physical contact. God moves upon people to touch others in body, soul and spirit.

“…let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of

the Lord, and the prayer of faith shall save the sick…” James 5:14-15

“…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Mark 16:18

What is prophecy?

The Gifts of the Spirit are given by God to every believer to benefit individuals and the entire Church (1 Corinthians 12:7, 12:8-10).

Prophecy encourages, builds, and comforts people. Prophecy is also a foretelling and revealing of things unknown to man but revealed by The Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:6 “… let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

1 Thessalonians 5:20 Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings.

Why do people speak in tongues?

It is evidence that a person has been baptized in the Holy Spirit.

They spoke in tongues in the book of Acts when God first sent the

Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Mark 16:17-20 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name…they shall speak with new tongues;

It is a gift from God which is a divine means of communication, edification, prayer, worship and rest

  1. Offering:

Why do we bring our tithe up front?

Giving is a part of our worship service because it is an act of worship

Exodus 25:1-2 “…that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.”

Lev. 27:30 And all the tithe is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.

Mal. 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,

  1. Communion

Why do we take communion in groups?

God makes covenant is among whole families. In the Bible people observed the feast of Passover (communion) by eating together as families (Exodus 12) This signified Jesus dying on the cross and becoming the “Lamb for a house”.

Exodus 12:3 “…take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house.”

In The New Testament they gathered together as a group to remember the death of Jesus Christ

Acts 2:46 “…continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house”

Q: What is expected of me as a visitor?

Nothing. Just come as you are and who you are. You will see some people dressed up and others dressed casual.

Our hope and prayer is that you would feel the love of God and experience His Peace. If you have any questions or needs, we’re here for you.
